Has anyone read James Michener’s Iberia before or after visiting Spain? I’m thinking about tackling it before a trip next May.

The central mystery of Spanish psychology. I suppose I should read Michener’s The Source. He is honest and often critical of Spain’s follies, cruelties and jamed.

He recommends books and instructs the reader on how to make a gaspacho. Looking for More Great Reads? I was wondering what kept him from writing a novel on Spain. He wrote while Spain was still under Dictator Franco and wondered what the future would hold politically. Ratings and Reviews kames 1 star ratings 0 reviews. That’s when he discloses he’s a Quaker! It was an interesting experience in driving through an almost holographic projection!
His tales were a lovely addition to the trip, and although over 50 years old, amazingly relevant to current events.
Basing himself in a number of different cities, many of them small cities that are not often featured in books on Spain. He describes forthrightly its perverse historical oppression of the lower classes at jamrs hands of the triumvirate of the church, the army and the landowners and explains that this is ibeeia the people have repeatedly risen up to suddenly kill scores of priests.

This book was terribly boring and outdated. This is a fascinating book.
All big changes in the last 40 years. What is most fascinating is that nobody saw what was coming.
He is tremendously erudite and to be admired as a student and wanderer of the world. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants ibria see below the surface to the heart of Spain. This book spoke to directly to me in a way that few other books have, so I am sad to be putting it down.
