The writing style was excellent. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians — and returned a disciple of the dark sidebent on destroying the Republic. Which is why I had such high hopes for Revan.
Every time they try and further the plot of this story it gets a little worse for me. Feb 03, Bookwraiths rated it it was ok Shelves: I don’t normally expect great literature from Star Wars books, but I do expect some authorial effort and external editing, something Revan is in dire need of.
It would have been nice to learn about what happens to the KOTOR 2 characters, but this is just a nitpick compared to my other problems with this book.
Knights of the Old Republic character. He who has tasted both the good and evil side of the force, seem to balance out and reject one or the other.
Revan is a major character in the first KOTOR, described as a whirlwind of not only Force power and saber technique but also tactics and battle strategy. It was amazing to see that players had been Revan all along and had all that history, in addition to all the things the player did in the game on the many different planets and best of all?

I ervan, I know, sacrilege. The paperback was released on September 25 Some plot points were predictable, but in general I enjoyed the story.

Now if they could just get someone to fix the Jedi Knight story. How will we survive— hang on a second, who is this guy? Which is strange because I felt that Drew made Zannah one of the better written female characters in the Star Wars universe. And thus, we come to the second glaring problem of the book.
Man did it hurt to see a part of my childhood’s favorite stories to end this way But it gets better, Drew’s reasoning for killing off Surik in the most ‘Hey Avellone, take your game and character and shove it up your ‘ way was that she was a sacrifice needed because Scourge had a vision of another Jedi the Jedi Knight class killing the Emperor and yay the galaxy gets saved!
There is a lot of intrigue, humor, and plenty of action to keep up the pace of the book. All of the Star Wars movies seem to focus on fighting Palpatine, so it was nice to see there is more to this galaxy than one antagonist.
What, was it too inconvenient for there to be a third person who had this ability? Somehow he stumbled across a terrible secret that threatens the very existence of the Republic. He already decided the genders and game endings for these characters, so why not canonize a personality as well?
This book is primarily about the Dark Side and characters, both good and bad, that deal with it. Legends, Canon, YA, movie tie-in, etc. Don’t you know that we used to be obsessed with the size of people’s head?

With both Meetra and Revan, Karpyshyn really should have gone all the way with establishing a canon for these two characters. I should have known better. Books by Drew Karpyshyn. Scourge carries out his duties, despite growing concerns that Nyriss is trying to have him killed. Do you know what the absolute worst part of this is though? After resting and watching a message from Bastila and his son Vanerthe three set out to eliminate the Emperor.

The author did a great job to blend good storytelling with some incredible action sequences. This book started out a little shaky, and it took me a while to actually appreciate the characters.
I got no sense of a deep history with him, feelings, desires, doubts, anything. The Old Republic Chronological Order 5 books. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was the loss of his memories. I honestly think Karen Traviss, the author who dedicated a lot of her novels to fleshing out their culture, would be pleased at how Karpyshyn wrote them.
I don’t recommend this for fans of the video game. I could even bring up Syndel from the Mortal Kombatcurbstomping about 7 other fighters that the player has played as…in a cutscene, that the player has no control over and comes out of nowhere in the last couple hours of the game!
